Director’s Note:
“North of the Drinking Gourd” takes the Live Garra Theatre into its 2024-2025 season. The Playwrights' Conservatory: The Voice of the Human Living Experience will foster insight into the craft of playwriting and the playwright's world as they put pen to paper to create a theatrical work from the organic development of true life stories. Comfort Food is about a group of long-time friends as they grapple with some devastating news. Comfort Food taps into the universal theme of my Brother’s keeper or in this case my Sister’s keeper – taking responsibility for the well being – and comfort, to care for and watch over our fellow human beings. Sometimes it’s difficult though, to face our fears; to put down the magnifying glass and pick up the mirror. |
