"The Window King" is about a young couple who decide not to bring a child into the world. Their modest Park Slope apartment in Brooklyn, NY turns into a free-for-all when an image appears on the window of what looks to be the Virgin Mary holding the Baby Jesus. The neighbors are captivated by the image. Crowds gather outside the brownstone and want to pray, sing and dance to the ‘Window King.’ Soon the hype is so widespread, the couple is swept up in this whirlwind of a spiritual spectacle.
DC Theater Arts describes the Helen Hayes Awards recommended production of “The Window King” as “A resonant vision on view at Live Garra Theatre. It is an engrossing new play prompted by a terminated pregnancy told in the context of a love relationship and a neighborhood community. Programmed by Live Garra Theatre ‘prior’ to the devastating decision in Dobbs, The Window King pulses with a poignant originality that is both timeless and right on time.” - John Stoltenberg
Parental guidance is advised; this play contains adult themes and explicit content.

Whiteside’s direction handles an array of structural nuances to a satisfying end, and you leave the theatre with the distinct sense that you know these characters, only wishing that you could see how their lives continue to unfold from here." Anne Valentino - MD Theatre Guide
